You can access your Microsoft 365 (M365) account using various popular email clients. If your email client supports the Exchange account type (e.g., Microsoft Outlook, Apple Mail), it is strongly recommended to configure your M365 account as an Exchange account rather than using POP or IMAP.
The Exchange setup provides full access to your mailbox, including emails, calendar events, contacts, and more. In contrast, POP and IMAP only allow access to email messages. Besides, POP downloads emails to one device and usually removes them from the server, while IMAP keeps emails on the server, allowing access from multiple devices. (Note: Gmail does not support IMAP).
