Eligibility New Non-Local Students (NLS) admitted to Four-year Full-time Government-funded Bachelor's Degree Programmes
New International Students
(excluding inbound exchange students and new Chinese Mainland Gaokao students)

With higher priority granted during their first two years of study# (i.e., Academic Year 2026/27 and 2027/28).
The priority given CANNOT be transferred to any subsequent years of study (i.e., the 3rd year of study and thereafter).

#The priority (for the second year of study) given to NLS is according to the residence status in AIMS during hall application. If students' residence status is shown as "Local" in AIMS, NO priority will be granted and hall applications will be processed as "Local" students.

Compound Allocation

Under the current Hall Admission Policy, newly admitted NLS shall reside in the Ma On Shan Compound during their first year of study (i.e., 2026/27) and the Kowloon Tong Compound in their second year of study (i.e., 2027/28).

*Starting from 2026/27, a very limited number of applicants will be allocated to the Kowloon Tong Compound. Applicants can prioritize their compound preference during the specified application period, but no guarantee. Lot drawing will apply when the number of applications is overwhelming.

Residential Period
Semester A: 24 August 2026 (09:00 HKT) - 23 December 2026 (12:00 HKT)
Break: 24 December 2026 - 3 January 2027
Semester B: 4 January 2027 (09:00 HKT) - 24 May 2027 (12:00 HKT)

*Hall place is offered for a full residential year. No withdrawal from the Student Residence is expected.
Application Period

22 April 2026 (10:00 HKT) - 30 June 2026 (23:59 HKT)

For prospective students receiving CityUHK's admission offers after 30 June 2026, please send your hall application together with the admission offer letter as a written proof to srouga.mos@cityu.edu.hk as soon as possible. Hall offers will be subject to room availability. Hall applications after the commencement of the residential period will NOT be entertained.

Important Notes

  1. Students who have physical disabilities, medical reasons or special needs for a double room of single occupancy should submit supporting documents to the Student Residence Office (SRO) for case-by-case consideration and arrangement via email srouga.mos@cityu.edu.hk, enclosing their hall application reference number. Successful applicants will be required to pay the hall charges double (HK$20,800 x 2 = HK$41,600).
  2. Non-local students will be required to secure their own housing in the market for their third year of study and thereafter, and are advised to prepare funds to cover such accommodation. Further information can be obtained from the SRO website.
  3. Prospective students who have a conditional offer during the hall application period are also required to submit their applications by the deadline since the hall application is on a yearly basis.
