General Principle for Room Assignment
- Applicants will be invited to indicate their preferences of room type when submitting the hall application.
- Room type will be assigned by lot-drawing.
- No room assignment will be made if successful applicants fail to complete application procedures properly or to confirm their hall offers.
- After paying confirmation fee, applicant will be invited to indicate their preferred roommates/flat-mates of the same gender with mutual agreements.
- Applicants' indications of preferred roommates/flat-mates will be considered as far as possible. There is no guarantee that students with hall offers will be assigned to a particular unit, room type, or with specific roommates/flat-mates. Final room assignments will be subject to room availability and hall admission policies. Student Residence Office or the Residence Master reserves the right to make alternative assignment decisions or re-assign students as appropriate.
- Applicants who have not indicated their preferred roommates/flat-mates by the deadline will be randomly assigned by the computer system.
- Requests for room swapping / changing room type will NOT be entertained during the entire residential period.
- Accommodations are assigned on the principle of ensuring maximum design capacity. Any unoccupied bed(s)/room(s) shall be assigned to new resident(s) who may arrive throughout the residential period, and hence please keep the unoccupied bedspaces intact and get prepared for your roommates's check-in at any time. Illegal occupation will lead to disciplinary action with penalty charges.
