CityU has awarded the first William Benter Prize in Applied Mathematics to Professor George Papanicolaou, Professor of Mathematics of Stanford University, in recognition of his exceptional contributions across a wide spectrum of research areas in applied mathematics.
Chair Professor Philippe G Ciarlet from the Department of Mathematics has been elected a foreign member of CAS in recognition of his contribution to solving critical issues in mechanics and modern engineering, as well as promoting mathematics in China.
