Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors
Professor Joe Qin Sizhao, Chair Professor of Data Science, Dean of the School of Data Science at CityU, and Director of the Hong Kong Institute for Data Science, has been elected to the rank of Fellow of the National Academy of Inventors.

United, We Soar campaign
A comprehensive fundraising campaign named “United, We Soar” signals the start of a new era at CityU. The campaign, which is the first of its kind for CityU, was launched on 1 December with its public phase.
The City University booth proved popular with visitors to this year's Education and Careers Expo, held in the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from 20 to 23 February.
City University of Hong Kong's School of Law (SLW) played host to the second WTO ambassador to visit the School this year when Ambassador Dr Toufiq Ali, Bangladesh Permanent Representative to the WTO, called on the School on 12 February. "It's a good experience to visit Hong Kong where I can look at how people have adjusted to the new situation in Hong Kong and China from an economic perspective," said Ambassador Ali, who currently chairs the WTO's Committee on Trade and Development.
The Chinese New Year Staff Party, held on 7 February, was full of festive fun and joy for the more than 1,000 City University staff members who gathered in the Chan Tai Ho Multi-Purpose Hall to celebrate the Year of the Goat.
At this year's Lunar New Year Staff Party, the President wished every member of staff, their families and the University a prosperous and productive Year of the Goat. Professor H K Chang was doing his best to pep up staff spirit in the face of a "gloomy" budgetary outlook for local universities, a scenario that has captured intense media and staff attention since late last year.
