"Snack DIY" and "Hong Kong Grocery Store" unlikely titles of prize-winning websites? CityU participants in RTH's Third Multimedia and Creativity Gallery¡XAsian Inter-University Multimedia Design Competition impressed the judging panel with these themes. And the producers of the two websites walked away with the Championship and My Favourite Award, respectively, in August.
A group of talented 21 students pledged to promote CityU's image and commit themselves to whole person development at the sixth Student Ambassador inaugural ceremony held on 23 January. The new batch of students ambassadors were selected out of 220 applicants because of their positive attitude, pleasant personality and strong communication skills.
City University's third annual WebCourse Fair 2003 kicked off on 14 January with a virtual exhibition showcasing the use of the Internet for teaching and learning. Around 30 teaching staff members shared online how they make use of audio-visual learning packages, online quizzes, self-assessment tools and 3D animations to stimulate students' interest.
Out-of-classroom learning experience has become increasingly important to university students these days as they prepare themselves for their careers in a competitive workplace. On recognizing this trend, the University has been active in building such experiences into the students' whole-person development experience. In December and January, 17 CityU students attended a three-week internship programme held in Chongqing, Sichuan, a municipality directly governed by the central government.
Fifteen groups of City University final-year marketing students were commended for their consultancy work at an Awards Presentation Ceremony held in the Wei Hing Theatre on 9 January.
