When Dr Rita Takahashi began setting up CityU's Applied Japanese Studies programme in 1998, she was determined about one thing: the course would include study tours to Japan. The Senior Lecturer in the Division of Language Studies firmly believes that language learning in the classroom is not enough for her students.
