CityU students have displayed that rarest of talents, the ability to excel in intellectual and physical challenges, by winning championships in this year's Inter-collegiate Debate Competitions and the Hong Kong Post-Secondary Colleges Athletic Association Competitions.
CityU sports teams have once again scored flying colours in this year's Inter-collegiate Sports Competition: Overall Champion in the men's teams, Overall First Runner Up in the women's teams, plus championship titles in events such as athletics, badminton, basketball, soccer and table tennis. The Physical Education (PE) section of Student Development Services (SDS) held an annual prize presentation ceremony and celebration dinner on 17 April to commemorate the teams" success.
In response to a report alleging that CityU has misused public funding, published in the Oriental Daily News on 29 April, the University released a statement refuting the allegation that CityU has a deficit of $220 million as a result of overspending. The major points of the statement are:
