Research on antenna led by Prof Chi Chan
A research team led by Professor Chan Chi-hou, Acting Provost and Chair Professor of Electronic Engineering in the Department of Electrical Engineering at CityU, has developed a new-generation antenna that allows manipulation of the direction, frequency and amplitude of the radiated beam for enhancing 6th-generation wireless communications.
The University has identified new areas of strategic interest in both inter- and multidisciplinary research, with the setting up of three new Faculty Research Centres: Centre for Chaos Control and Synchronization, Centre for Media Technology, and Southeast Asia Centre . With these additions, the number of faculty research centres at CityU now totals 10.
In a rare display of talent, three CityU scientists¡Xall chair professors¡Xhave been newly admitted to the elite of IEEE fellowship: Professor Paul Chu, from the Department of Physics and Materials Science, Professor Ron Hui and Professor Luk Kwai-man, both from the Department of Electronic Engineering. In the latest round of the IEEE election, only eight new 2003 Fellows, all academics, are from Hong Kong .
