About 600 scientists, scholars and researchers congregated at the 2015 IEEE International Conference on Systems, Man, and Cybernetics (SMC2015) held at City University of Hong Kong (CityU) from 9 to 12 October.
SMC2015 is the flagship conference of the IEEE Systems, Man, and Cybernetics Society (SMCS), which provides a platform for participants to report on the latest innovations and developments in the field and exchange ideas about advances in all aspects of systems science and engineering, human machine systems, and cybernetics.
The theme chosen this year, “Big Data Analytics for Human-Centric Systems”, highlights the growing interest in theories and technologies for integrating human intelligence with machine intelligence to accomplish complex information processing tasks.
The aim of the conference was to engage the SMC community in addressing problems of harnessing big data for real-world applications and simulations, and to craft new discoveries and applications that will shape how society views and uses big data.
Guests officiating at the opening ceremony on 10 October were Professor Ljiljana Trajkovic, SMCS President, Professor Way Kuo, CityU President and Honorary Chair of the Organising Committee of the Conference, and Professor Sam Kwong Tak-wu, Head of CityU’s Department of Computer Science and General Chair of the Organising Committee.
