University-Enterprise cooperation with Goertek Inc.

On 28 August 2025, a donation and university-enterprise cooperation signing ceremony between CityUHK and Goertek Co., Ltd. took place at CityUHK. According to the agreement, Goertek will establish the "CityUHK - Goertek Scholarship". Additionally, both parties will jointly construct the CityUHK-Goertek Industry-Education Integration Talent Joint Training Base and set up a special fund to support student internships and practical training at Goertek. Attendees at the signing ceremony included Mr. GAO Xiaoguang, Senior Vice President of Goertek Co., Ltd.; Mr. KANG Chuanyi, General Manager of the Southern China Platform; Professor Julie LI, Associate Vice-President (Mainland Strategy) and Acting Executive President of CityUHK(DG); and Professor TOH Kian Lam, Director of Student Development Services. The first round of scholarship funds was secured and was scheduled for official disbursement in the second semester of 2025.

A delegation from the Dongguan Municipal Government visits CityUHK

On 6 August 2025, a delegation led by Mr. CHEN Qingsong, Vice Mayor of the Dongguan Municipal People's Government and Secretary of the Songshan Lake Party Working Committee, visited the HK Tech 300 Co-working Space for professional dialogue initiatives. They were  warmly welcomed by Professor Michael YANG, Senior Vice-President (Innovation and Enterprise); Professor Julie LI, Associate Vice-President (Mainland Strategy) and Acting Executive President of CityUHK(DG); Professor Michael TSE Chi-kong, Associate Vice-President (Innovation) and Director of the CityUHK Academy of Innovation;Professor Johnny HO Chung-yin, Associate Vice-President (Enterprise); and Professor GOH Chin Foo, Director of the Knowledge Transfer Office. During the meeting, Professor Michael YANG provided a detailed overview of the latest progress in CityUHK's scientific innovation and its fruitful achievements in promoting innovation and entrepreneurship. Representatives from five outstanding start-up companies incubated under the HK Tech 300 programme were invited to attend and share their practical experiences.

CityUHK and Shanghai Pudong join hands to promote the integration of innovation and technology with industry and commerce

A delegation led by Mr ZHANG Feng, Standing Committee Member of the Pudong New District CPC Committee and President of the Shanghai Pudong Overseas Friendship Association (POFA), recently visited CityUHK.CityUHK and Shanghai’s Pudong New District are engaged in exploratory discussions regarding a potential strategic collaboration in research and innovation. These talks aim to assess opportunities for creating a dynamic cross-border innovation and technology (I&T) platform that could integrate academic excellence with industrial ecosystems to accelerate scientific discovery and commercialisation. The potential partnership would leverage CityUHK’s world-class expertise in biomedicine, digital health, artificial intelligence, fintech, and legal innovation, combined with Pudong’s robust industrial infrastructure and supportive policy environment. Key objectives under discussion include enhancing Hong Kong’s R&D capabilities, accelerating the industrialisation of research outcomes, and cultivating a sustainable model for collaborative innovation.

A delegation from Xiangtan University visits CityUHK

On 22 July 2025, a delegation led by Professor LIAO Yong'an, Deputy Party Secretary and President of Xiangtan University, visited CityUHK. They were warmly welcomed by Professor Julie LI, Associate Vice-President (Mainland Strategy), Professor LIN Feng, Dean of the School of Law, and Professor WU Qi, Director of the Flagship Programme in the School of Computing. Annual Meeting and Presidents' Forum of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Alliance

On 11 July 2025, the 2025 Annual Meeting and Presidents' Forum of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Alliance took place at the University of Macau, under the theme "Collaboration Across Three Regions, Innovation Through Higher Education Integration". The meeting brought together over 180 representatives from universities across Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao to jointly outline the alliance's development blueprint and accelerate the Greater Bay Area's transformation into a global hub for talent and an educational and technological innovation centre. Professor Julie LI, Associate Vice-President (Mainland Strategy), attended the 2025 Council Meeting and Annual Meeting, and delivered a speech at the Presidents' Forum.

A delegation from the Science and Technology Innovation Bureau of the Chengdu High-tech Zone visits CityUHK

A delegation from the Science and Technology Innovation Bureau of the Chengdu High-tech Zone, led by Deputy Director Mr. ZHANG Ming, visited CityUHK on 4 July 2025. They were warmly welcomed by Professor CHEN Furong, Associate Vice-President (Mainland Collaboration) and Director of the Mainland Research Institutes, and Professor GOH Chin Foo, Director of the Knowledge Transfer Office (KTO) and Executive Director of the Chengdu Research Institute. The two parties discussed leveraging CityUHK's strengths in key disciplines to explore the establishment of an innovation consortium under the “Hong Kong R&D + Chengdu Translation” model, with the aim of facilitating the translation of scientific and technological achievements in the Chengdu High-tech Industrial Development Zone.
