City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan) hosted the Inaugural Commencement 2026 at City University of Hong Kong on 22 June 2026. Over 420 MSc graduates travelled from Dongguan's Songshan Lake to Hong Kong's Kowloon Tong to attend the commencement, marking them as the university's first intake and alumni of CityUHK's global community. Senior officials, academics and other guests attended the milestone event, including Mr LEUNG Chun-ying, Vice Chairman of the CPPCC National Committee; Ms LI Jun, Vice Mayor of Dongguan Municipal People's Government; Mr CHEN Yulin, a director of Department of Educational, Scientific and Technological Affairs of the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR; Professor Michael NGAI, Council Chairman of CityUHK; Professor Chun-Sing LEE, Acting President of CityUHK and Chairperson of CityUHK (DG)'s Governing Board; and Professor DUAN Baoyan, President of CityUHK (DG) and Member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Professor LU Chun, Executive President of CityUHK (DG) and Vice-President of CityUHK.

On 8 June 2026, a delegation led by Mr LAN Shaomin, Chairman of the Heilongjiang Provincial Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) visited CityUHK. The delegation was warmly welcomed by senior management of CityUHK. The CityUHK representatives were led by Professor the Honourable Michael NGAI, Chairman of the Council of CityUHK. Members of the group also included Professor Michael YANG Mengsu, Senior Vice-President (Innovation and Enterprise), Professor CHAN Chi-hou, Vice-President (Community Engagement) and Director of the State Key Laboratory of Terahertz and Millimeter Waves, and Professor Kenneth LEUNG Mei-yee, Vice-President (Research) and Director of the State Key Laboratory of Marine Environmental Health. The two sides engaged in thorough discussions focusing on science and technology, educational development, and innovation and enterprise programmes. They are committed to seeking further collaboration opportunities and to contributing to the long-term development of the nation.

The Chinese Students and Scholars Association of CityUHK recently hosted the “2026 Graduation Dinner”, bringing together graduating students, University management, faculty members and alumni to celebrate an important milestone as graduates embark on a new chapter in their lives. The event was held in a warm and lively atmosphere, with about 200 graduates and guests from various disciplines in attendance. It extended heartfelt congratulations to the graduates and laid a strong foundation for maintaining long-term connections between them and their alma mater. Professor the Honourable Michael NGAI , CityUHK Council Chairman, congratulated the graduates on successfully completing their studies and expressed sincere appreciation to faculty, families and friends for their unwavering support. Professor LEE Chun-sing, CityUHK Acting President, conveyed his congratulations via a video message, encouraging graduates to move forward with confidence and resilience as they embrace new challenges. He expressed his hope that they would remain closely connected with the University and continue to nurture this valuable bond.

On 28 April 2026, a delegation led by Professor CHU Beiping, President of Shanghai Maritime University, visited CityUHK. They were warmly welcomed by Prof. LU Chun, Vice-President (Mainland Strategy) and Executive President of CityUHK (DG), Prof. DING Chunyan, Associate Dean of the School of Law, and other university representatives. Both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on joint talent cultivation, deepening research cooperation in shipping and logistics, and strengthening exchanges and collaboration in the field of law.

A delegation led by Professor JIA Wenjian, President and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Beijing Foreign Studies University (BFSU), visited CityUHK recently. The guests were cordially received by CityUHK senior management, comprising Professor LU Chun, Vice-President (Mainland Strategy) and Executive President of CityUHK (DG); Professor GOH Chin Foo, Associate Vice-President (Mainland Industry); Professor Alfred HO Tat-kei, Dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences (CLASS); and Professor LIN Feng, Dean of the School of Law (SLW).The two universities signed a MoU to enhance academic exchange and shared insights on the joint cultivation of talent.

On 17 April 2026, a delegation led by Mr. LIU Shuchun, Deputy Party Secretary of Beihang University, visited CityUHK. They were warmly welcomed by Prof. Julie LI, Deputy Vice-President (Mainland Strategy) and Vice-President (Academic) of CityUHK (DG); Prof. WANG Shiqi, Associate Dean of the College of Computing; Prof. WANG Cong, Head of Department of Computer Science. Both sides explored potential pathways for establishing joint bachelor’s-master’s degree programmes.

The 2025-26 Beijing-Hong Kong University Alliance Council Meeting and Presidents’ Forum was successfully held at Hong Kong Baptist University on 16 April 2026. High-level officials from the Ministry of Education, the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in the HKSAR, the Hong Kong Education Bureau, and the Beijing Municipal Education Commission, alongside representatives from 22 member universities, attended the event. Professor LU Chun, Vice-President (Mainland Strategy) of CityUHK and Executive President of CityUHK (DG), participated in the meeting and delivered a keynote speech at the Presidents’ Forum titled “Focusing on the Practice of Talent Cultivation and Exchange Cooperation between Beijing and Hong Kong.”
