City University of Hong Kong (Dongguan) “(CityUHK(DG))”, held its Grand Opening Ceremony on 2 September. Participating in person to share this joyous occasion were Central government officials, other officials from mainland China and the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR), senior management from the Council, Court and Senate of CityUHK, senior management of CityUHK(DG), students and parents. Today also marks the first school day of CityUHK(DG).

Professor Freddy BOEY, President and University Distinguished Professor of CityUHK, led a delegation to Qingdao and met with officials from the Huangdao District on 2 August 2024. The two parties signed an agreement to establish the CityUHK Innovation Center in Qingdao’s West Coast New Area, with the aim of promoting and implementing collaboration between higher-education institutions in Hong Kong and Qingdao. Leveraging CityUHK's world-renowned academic research achievements and international reputation, the collaboration seeks to complement each other's strengths and cultivate innovation and technology talent in both regions to create synergy.

Professor LU Chun, Vice-President (Mainland Strategy) of CityUHK, led a delegation to visit the Global Research and Development Center of GoerTek Inc on 1 August 2024. The delegation was warmly received by Mr. GAO Xiaoguang, Senior Vice-President, Mr. KANG Chuanyi, General Manager of the South China Platform, and Mr. YU Yang, Deputy Director of Alpha Lab. The two parties conducted in-depth exchanges on employment, internships and practical training for CityUHK students, joint talent cultivation among the University, businesses and the local government, scientific research and project collaboration, and industry-university scholarships.

Professor LI Weiping, Vice-President of Ningbo University, led a delegation to visit CityUHK on 25 July 2024. They were warmly welcomed by Professor CHEN Furong, Associate Vice-President (Mainland Collaboration), Professor LIN Feng, Dean of the School of Law, Professor DING Chunyan, Deputy Dean of the School of Law, and other senior management members. The two parties discussed and promoted inter-university cooperation in the areas of law and science and engaged in in-depth exchanges on academic collaboration and talent cultivation.

They were warmly received by Professor LEE Chun Sing, Provost and Deputy President, Professor LU Jian, Dean of the College of Engineering, and others. Professor JIANG Zeting, the Communist Party Secretary of Beijing University of Technology, led a delegation to visit CityUHK on 10 May 2024. They were warmly welcomed by Professor LEE Chun Sing, Provost and Deputy President, Professor LI Juan, Associate Vice-President (Mainland Strategy), and Professor LU Jian, Dean of the College of Engineering. The two parties discussed and promoted in-depth cooperation in areas such as student exchanges, talent cultivation, and scientific research in the fields of civil engineering and Internet of Things engineering.

Professor TIAN Hui, Communist Party Secretary of Ocean University of China, led a delegation to visit CityUHK on 8 May 2024. They were warmly welcomed by Professor LU Chun, Vice-President (Mainland Strategy), Professor LI Juan, Associate Vice-President (Mainland Strategy), Professor LU Jian, Dean of the College of Engineering, and Professor LEUNG Mei-yee, Dean of the School of Energy and Environment. The two universities renewed and signed a cooperation memorandum of understanding to consolidate their partnership and further promote exchanges and collaboration in various fields.

A delegation led by Mr WANG Bo, Member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Qingdao Municipal Committee and Deputy Mayor of Qingdao City, visited CityUHK on 22 April 2024 and met with CityUHK senior management. The two sides exchanged views on scientific research and teaching cooperation. President BOEY and Professor YANG Mengsu, Senior Vice-President (Innovation and Enterprise) introduced the unique features of CityUHK to the delegation, including its focus on excellence in research and professional education, and its promotion of innovation and entrepreneurship. Mr WANG said he hoped that Qingdao and CityUHK would strengthen their cooperation in R&D, innovation and talent nurturing.

Professor XUE Hongwei, President of South China Agricultural University, led a delegation to visit CityUHK on 18 April 2024. They were warmly welcomed by Professor LU Chun, Vice-President (Mainland Strategy), Professor LI Juan, Associate Vice-President (Mainland Strategy), and Ms. SNG Jingli, Director of the Office of the President. The two sides had an in-depth exchange and shared their experience in joint postgraduate training and technology cooperation, and explored future directions for collaboration.
