What influence did the financial tsunami have on consumer satisfaction levels? What have been the trends in consumer satisfaction over the past decade?

The Department of Management Sciences at City University of Hong Kong (CityU) will announce tomorrow (31 March) the findings of the CityU–Hong Kong Consumer Satisfaction Index (CityU–HKCSI) 2008 and review the ten-year trends.

Ms Connie Lau Yin-hing, Chief Executive, Consumer Council, will comment on the HKCSI results and consumer demand. Professor Chan Lai-kow, Vice Rector, Macau University of Science and Technology, will report the results of a similar survey carried out in Macau.

CityU–HKCSI, a performance indicator for Hong Kong businesses, measures consumer satisfaction with the quality of products (goods and services) purchased in Hong Kong. Since 1997, the CityU research team has collected views from more than 10,000 interviewees each year using a computer-assisted telephone interview system.
