CityUHK Press publications champion Hong Kong’s start-up ecosystem—securing top honours at Hong Kong Publishing Biennial Awards 2025

City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) Press is delighted to announce its remarkable success at the Hong Kong Publishing Biennial Awards 2025. The CityUHK TechVenture Series has been awarded the Best Publishing Award in Business and Management, while Sunny Chai: Managing Balance, a compelling title from the CityUHK Mastermind Series, has received the Publishing Award in Business and Management. 

These prestigious honours recognise the outstanding contributions of CityUHK and CityUHK Press in fostering entrepreneurial culture and knowledge exchange.

Hong Kong’s start-up ecosystem has flourished with many local ventures achieving remarkable success internationally, even nurturing several “unicorns”.

The CityUHK TechVenture Series delves into this dynamic landscape, featuring in-depth interviews with over 30 diverse stakeholders, including start-up founders, incubators, and investors. By sharing their stories and insights, the series aims to inspire aspiring entrepreneurs to transform their dreams into reality.

Another award-winning publication, Sunny Chai: Managing Balance, documents the journey and managerial philosophy of Dr Sunny Chai, Chairman of the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation, President of the Federation of Hong Kong Industries, and Managing Director of Fook Tin Group Holdings Limited.

Renowned as the “King of Scales”, Dr Chai transformed his family’s business into a global enterprise while advocating for Hong Kong’s industrial and technological advancement. The book shares his core values—integrity, diligence, and lifelong learning—and reveals how to balance varied interests in complex environments, encouraging the next generation to reach for new heights.

As part of its unwavering mission to nurture innovative talent, CityUHK has launched strategic initiatives designed to accelerate innovation and technology development, yielding significant and impactful results. These initiatives include our flagship innovation and entrepreneurship programme, HK Tech 300, which was launched in 2021 to provide start-up teams with seed funding, and the CityUHK Academy of Innovation, which was established in 2024.

Aligning with the HKSAR Government’s focus on technology and youth development, CityUHK Press will release an English edition of Start-up 101 and the new CityUHK Global CEO Series at the Hong Kong Book Fair in July 2025. The Global CEO Series features distinguished leaders sharing their career insights and advice for aspiring professionals.

The Hong Kong Publishing Biennial Awards, supported by the HKSAR Government, are conferred biennially to recognise outstanding publications, authors, and publishing teams, elevating industry standards through evaluations by experts from mainland China, Hong Kong, and Taiwan.
