CityUHK Wireless LAN Summary

With any properly configured Wi-Fi 5/6/6E/7 compliance Wi-Fi device, no matter whether it is a smart phone, tablet or notebook computer, you can use your network connection password to gain access to the Wi-Fi network.

Two options of connection methods are supported:

  1. Secure connection with data encryption via WPA2/WPA3
  2. Insecure connection without data encryption via web logon (captive portal)

The CSC strongly recommends Wi-Fi users to use option 1, i.e. the secure connection for the sake of data privacy and protection. The insecure connection should not be used unless your device does not support WPA2/WPA3 and data privacy is not important.
