A research team comprising experts from CityU , Harvard University and Nokia Bell Labs has successfully fabricated a tiny on-chip lithium niobate modulator, an electro-optic modulator which is more efficient, with faster data transmission and lower costs. CityU researchers are looking into its application for the coming 5G communication.
Professor Ben Leung Kwok-wa of the Department of Electronic Engineering has been awarded the First Class Award (Natural Science) in the 2016 Higher Education Outstanding Scientific Research Output Awards (Science and Technology).
