Environmental advocates discussed the conservation of the northeast New Territories and waste management with faculty and students at three public seminars under the theme “Your City Your Politics” organised by the Department of Public Policy at City University of Hong Kong (CityU) from 18 to 20 November.

The speakers were Mr Chu Hoi-dick, Spokesman for Local Action and a social activist; Mr Lai Wei-jie, Chairman of Green Citizens’ Action Alliance, Taiwan; Mr Basuofengyun, Director of Centre of Eco-Environmental Conservation for Liveable Guangzhou; Mr Chu Hon-keung, Environment Affairs Manager, Friends of the Earth; and Ms Michelle Au Wing-tsz, Political Assistant to Secretary for the Environment, HKSAR Government.

The seminars aimed to give staff, students and the community a platform where they can exchange views about society’s hottest environmental topics.
