Under the EduDynamics theme, CityU's WebCourse Fair 2001-02 showcased the creativity, energy, and diversity of the University's Web educators as they enhance the learning experience through the Internet.

This year's fair featured a series of seminars hosted by faculty members. Short talks were given on topics such as Web-based teaching, cross-cultural collaborative learning, the joys and pains of teaching of translation, and using the Internet to teach law. Speakers included Professor Doug Vogel, Chair Professor of Information Systems, Mr Cedric Maridet, Assistant Lecturer of the Division of Language Studies, Ms Marlene LeBrun, Visiting Associate Professor of the School of Law, and Mr Kenneth Au, Assistant Professor of the Department of Chinese, Translation and Linguistics.

Introduced in 2000-01, the WebCourse Fair was designed by the Digital Academic Resources Unit as an annual event to review Web-based teaching. A host of Internet learning packages, portals, and interactive devices -- covering languages, iMBA, Chinese civilization, translation, law, and science disciplines -- were on display.

The Fair was officiated by Vice-President (Planning and Information Services) Mr John Dockerill, who introduced CityU's Web Portal, which is designed to create a unified digital campus. Dr Eva Wong, Acting Head of the Library's Digital Academic Resources Unit, gave a demonstration of the portal to provide a glimpse of the benefits and the challenges ahead.
