The Jockey Club College of Veterinary Medicine and Life Sciences (JCC) celebrated a momentous milestone as it held the Bachelor of Veterinary Medicine (BVM) Graduation Gala for its inaugural cohort on 28 October 2023. Eleven pioneering veterinary students were the first to emerge from Hong Kong's first and only veterinary school, holding great significance in the history of JCC and the local community.

The event was graced by the presence of Dean Lorin Warnick and Professor Caroline Yancey, who travelled from Ithaca, New York to represent our esteemed partner institution, Cornell University College of Veterinary Medicine. Their attendance serves as a testament to the strong collaboration between the two institutions.

Despite the challenges encountered throughout their education, these graduates have shown remarkable resilience and determination, successfully completing the rigorous six-year veterinary programme. Their dedication and perseverance have earned them the recognition of being successfully registered with the Veterinary Surgeons Board of Hong Kong, allowing them to embark on their professional journey as veterinarians.

Notably, these talented individuals are not limited to opportunities in Hong Kong alone. They are also eligible for registration and employment in the United Kingdom and Australia, opening doors to global career prospects. However, it is worth mentioning that all graduates have already secured positions within Hong Kong, demonstrating their commitment to contributing their skills and expertise to the betterment of animal health and welfare in their hometown.

The College congratulates the BVM graduates on their success and takes immense pride in the accomplishments of these remarkable individuals. The Class of 2023 is sure to make a lasting impact on the veterinary profession, and the JCC community eagerly anticipates their future contributions to the field.
