On 8 and 10 November 2023, the School of Energy and Environment (SEE) Student Chapter, led by Prof. Edwin TSO, organized a visit to O·PARK1. The engineers at O·PARK1 provided us with an insightful introduction to the advanced techniques employed in the recovery process of organic resources. This visit allowed students to witness firsthand the practical implementation of the Hong Kong government’s sustainable waste management and recycling initiatives.

Prof. Alicia AN’s group published a research paper entitled “Nano-confined Supramolecular Assembly of Ultrathin Crystalline Polymer Membranes for High-Performance Nanofiltration” in Advanced Functional Materials Journal (IF 19). A new approach of nano-confined supramolecular assembly to fabricate ultrathin crystalline polymer membranes with a modulus of 1 GPa and a thickness of 6.5 nm is reported.

Prof. Alicia An and her start-up company, SSA Coating, presented their "Application of Advanced Photocatalytic Material for Effective Air Cleaning and Water Purification" project during InnoCarnival 2023 at HKSTP. InnoCarnival is an annual flagship event organized by the Innovation & Technology Commission (ITC) that focuses on showcasing the latest developments and achievements in innovation and technology in Hong Kong, with a specific emphasis on GreenTech this year.

Prof. Alicia An’s group published a review paper entitled "Advancements in Nano-enabled Membrane Distillation (MD) for a Sustainable Water-Energy-Environment Nexus" in Advanced Materials Journal (IF 29.4). Leveraging on their expertise in engineering advanced MD membranes and system configurations for water and energy applications, in this review, the authors explored the latest breakthroughs in nano-enhanced MD technology.
