CityUHK Undergraduate Info Day 2025 concludes successfully International programmes and scholarship schemes draw strong interest

City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) held its Undergraduate Info Day 2025 on 4 October, attracting about 32,000 visitors, an increase of more than 30% compared to last year and setting a record for the second consecutive year. Nearly 200 talks and interactive sessions were organised to give secondary school students and parents a comprehensive understanding of CityUHK’s academic offerings and diverse learning environment.

One of the highlights was a briefing session on the Joint Bachelor's Degree Programme between CityUHK and Columbia University. The session was packed to capacity. Mr Curtis Rodgers, Vice Dean of Columbia’s School of General Studies, and Ms Jessica Sarles, Senior Associate Dean for Strategic Initiatives and Partnerships of the same school, visited CityUHK to personally introduce the programme and answer questions from students and parents.

Mr Rodgers highlighted that the programme allows students to benefit from the resources and networks of both institutions, while experiencing the vibrancy and international character of both Hong Kong and New York. He described it as a programme with an international character not only in its academic coursework, but also in its practical application.

Columbia representatives provided detailed information on admission requirements, academic support and career-development opportunities. The programme offers 12 four-year dual-degree options, with students completing the first two years at CityUHK and the final two years at Columbia. Graduates will receive bachelor’s degrees from both institutions. CityUHK and Columbia announced earlier that the programme will begin accepting applications from high school graduates in Hong Kong and around the world for the 2026/27 academic year. To support outreach, an informative display has been placed outside at the Run Run Shaw Library in the Yeung Kin Man Academic Building to introduce the programme.

Exhibitions showcasing CityUHK’s Flagship Programmes attracted large crowds of students and parents. Starting in the next academic year, CityUHK will expand its flagship programmes to ten, including the newly launched Integrative Bioscience & Bioengineering Programme and two enhanced existing programmes. These cover broader disciplines and are closely aligned with emerging global trends. Faculty members hosted detailed talks to explain programme features and admission requirements, with enthusiastic participation from attendees.

CityUHK offers generous scholarships to outstanding local students admitted to flagship programmes, including full or half tuition, accommodation fees, and a one-off overseas exchange subsidy of up to HK$500,000. Students may have the opportunity to visit top global institutions, such as MIT, Imperial College London, Oxford, Harvard, Cambridge, Cornell, the University of Toronto and Columbia.

The Info Day also featured a wide range of engaging activities, including guided tours of laboratories, demonstrations of AI applications and a robotic dog, exhibitions on residential life and global learning opportunities, and student-alumni sharing sessions. The event was vibrant and full of energy throughout the day, fully showcasing CityUHK’s dynamic, innovative and globally oriented learning environment.
