More than 100 innovative projects designed by academic staff and students from the College of Science and Engineering at City University of Hong Kong will be showcased at the “Discovery and Innovation Gala” from 21 to 22 June. Key projects include:
· A Smart Drunk Driving Detection Scheme – a device that checks the drivers’ condition before they drive and during the journey as a way of preventing drink-related accidents.
· Learning Algebra Through Play – a way to make learning algebra more interesting and fun for primary and secondary students using personalised learning technologies.
· “SAFETY FIRST!” – VR Safety Training System for Construction Work is a new training programme based on virtual reality (VR) that helps construction workers better understand rules and regulations on safety.
· Touch-free Biomedical Image Navigation System for Surgeons – Doctors may need to retrieve a patient’s medical records during surgery to confirm the surgical site. A touch-free system for surgeons enables the retrieval of medical images without direct contact of unsterilised materials.
