City University of Hong Kong (CityU) will announce the research results of the Inter-University Life Mentor Scheme on 17 June.
The Scheme was launched in 2010 as an interactive learning experience activity by CityU’s Department of Applied Social Sciences. It was extended to the University of Hong Kong, the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University last year. The actual effects of the Scheme will be revealed by the data collected from participants in a survey that was conducted by Dr Alice Chong Ming-lin, the initiator of the Scheme and Associate Professor from CityU’s Department of Applied Social Sciences.
The participating elders and students will share their feelings and experience about the Scheme. There is one touching story about a CityU student who has produced a story book on the life experience of his mentor. Later, when his mentor died, the story book deeply moved his family and relatives. They went on to produce another story book to further commemorate the life of the mentor.
