We would like to invite you to cover the following event:

Event:            Student Project Exhibition by College of Science and Engineering, CityU
Date:               27 May 2014 (Tuesday)
Time:               3:00pm – 4:00pm
Venue:             Purple Zone, 4/F, Academic 1, City University of Hong Kong

Some 75 outstanding interdisciplinary technology projects at the Student Project Exhibition by College of Science and Engineering (CSE) at City University of Hong Kong (CityU) from 27 to 28 May 2014 will showcase how students discovered solutions to problems and will highlight their affinity with society and current affairs.

Among the exhibits is a wireless wall-climbing robot, developed by four students from the Department of Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering, that can be used for routine building inspections and is particularly useful in hostile environments such as in collapsed buildings and where there is the risk of power leakages.

Another project shows how a student from the Department of Civil and Architectural Engineering found that the risk of fire can be significantly reduced in sub-divided flats if simple fire service installations are available and safety regulations are followed, and another shows how a student from the Department of Systems Engineering and Engineering Management interning at an airline catering services company significantly reduced the amount of kitchen waste by re-organising the workflow of food preparation.

The exhibition will be held from 2:00pm to 6:00pm in the Purple Zone of CityU’s Academic 1. All items on display are student projects from the eight departments in the CSE, the Division of Building Science and Technology, and the Co-operative Education Centre.

During the exhibition, CSE students will explain the ideas and features behind the projects and demonstrate how to use the products.
