Your City Your Politics

 

Environmental advocates will discuss controversial conservation topics affecting society at a series of three public seminars under the theme “Your City Your Politics” organised by the Department of Public Policy at City University of Hong Kong on 18-20 November.

The seminars aim to give staff, students and the community a platform where they can exchange views about society’s hottest environmental topics.

We would like to invite you to cover the following events:

Topic:     Reflection of the conservation and development of the northeast New 
                Territories development plan

Date:       18 November 2013 (Monday)

Speaker:  Mr Chu Hoi-dick, Spokesman for Local Action and a social activist

Topic:     From not-in-my-backyard to waste reduction by all citizens: dialogue
                with citizens from Taipei, Guangzhou, and Hong Kong on city waste

Date:       19 November 2013 (Tuesday)

Topic:     Landfill, incineration and waste reduction: the rationale and reality of
                the policy on waste management

Speaker:  Ms Michelle Au Wing-tsz, Political Assistant to Secretary for the Environment, HKSAR government

The host of the three seminars will be Mr Lo Sze-ping, CityU Visiting Fellow of the Department of Public Policy, CEO of WWF (China), and Deputy Director of the Institute of Environment and Public Welfare at Sun Yat-sen University.
