Workshop on Fukushima nuclear incident—review and outlook

This year is the second anniversary of the accident at the Fukushima nuclear power plant, yet the doubts raised by the public about nuclear safety and the risk of radiation leakage have not diminished.

Was the accident a natural or man-made disaster? What are the risks of radiation leakage and health risks in the devastated areas? Has the Daya Bay nuclear power plant near Hong Kong learnt any lessons from this incident, assessed the risks properly or developed a contingency plan?

In a workshop organised by the Department of Mechanical and Biomedical Engineering at City University of Hong Kong (CityU) and the Hong Kong Nuclear Society, the speakers will analyse a number of expert reports related to the Fukushima nuclear incident, discuss the questions raised, and provide the public with their insights to help them understand the incident through media reports.
