Press conference on a collaboration between CityU and the NationaAstronomical Observatory on China’s new satellite positioning systeml

The State Key Laboratory of Millimeter Waves at City University of Hong Kong (CityU) has been invited by the National Astronomical Observatory (NAO) to develop an advanced antenna unit for the Chinese Area Positioning System (CAPS). CityU’s technology will help to overcome critical technical problems faced by the system.
CityU is the first local tertiary institution to be invited by, and receive funding from, NAO to participate in the research and development of CAPS, which is a national commitment to develop a new satellite positioning system to provide both navigation and communication services.
During the press conference, CityU personnel including Professor Chan Chi-hou, Acting Provost, Professor Luk Kwai-man, Director of the State Key Laboratory of Millimeter Waves, and Professor Xue Quan and Dr Wong Hang, Deputy Director and Senior Engineer at the Laboratory, respectively, will elaborate on CityU’s involvement in the research project and discuss the latest progress.
