The final round of the Hong Kong Underwater Robot Challenge 2010 competition, organised by City University of Hong Kong (CityU), will be held on 11 April 2010 (Sunday) at CityU’s swimming pool.
Remotely controlled robots capable of underwater manoeuvres will be manipulated by 17 teams from secondary schools, which have designed their own robots, to complete four tasks. A demonstration of the manoeuvres and interviews with the media will be arranged with the champion and other winning teams after the competition and prize presentation ceremony.
Aimed at enhancing the younger generation’s interest in robotic technology and marine conservation, the Hong Kong Underwater Robot Challenge was started in 2006 and has since then become very popular among secondary school teachers, students and their parents.
