Honorary Awards Ceremony 2009
The conferment of honorary degrees from City University of Hong Kong (CityU) will be held on 10 November. Dr Norman Leung Nai-pang, University Pro-Chancellor, will confer honorary doctorates on the following five prominent individuals:
Dr Simon Ip Sik-on, Notary Public and former Chairman and Senior Partner of Johnson Stokes & Master (now Mayer Brown JSM) – Honorary Doctor of Laws;
Professor Justin Lin Yifu, World Bank’s Chief Economist and Senior Vice President – Honorary Doctor of Social Science;
Professor Susumu Tonegawa, Japanese scientist and Nobel Prize winner – Honorary Doctor of Science;
Professor Wong Chi-huey, President of the Academia Sinica – Honorary Doctor of Science;
Professor Zhang Jie, President of Shanghai Jiao Tong University – Honorary Doctor of Science.
Mr Leung Chun-ying, Council Chairman of CityU, Mr Raymond Or Ching-fai, Deputy Council Chairman, and Professor Way Kuo, President, will attend the ceremony.
