Date:      16 July 2009 (Thursday)

Time:     11am

Venue:    Room Y4302, Yellow Zone, 4/F, Academic Building, CityU (Behind Lecture Theatre 3; next to Lift 9.)

City University of Hong Kong (CityU) will announce on 16 July (tomorrow) the second quarter 2009 findings of the Hong Kong Consumer Confidence Index and comparisons with Beijing, Taiwan and Macau.

The consumer confidence index details consumer sentiment towards economic development, employment, consumer prices, living standards, housing purchases and stock investment. It reflects spending intentions over a particular period by examining consumer perceptions about current and anticipated social and economic conditions.

CityU has tracked the Hong Kong Consumer Confidence Index since the third quarter of 2008. The research team collects views quarterly from more than 1,000 Hong Kong residents aged 18 or above using a computer-assisted telephone interview system.
