Redeveloping the famous “Trainers Street” in Mongkok into an in-city emporium, rebuilding Kwun Tong Yu Man Square into a cozy neighbourhood, transforming Kwun Tong Ferry Pier into a tourist area ---- these are just some of the secondary school projects entered into the Urban Design Competition organised by the Department of Building and Construction at City University of Hong Kong (CityU).
Judges of the competition will select the winning entries from 12 finalists on 1 March 2008. A prize presentation ceremony will immediately follow, with guests in attendance to include:
· Mr Jimmy Leung Cheuk-fai, Deputy Director of Planning, HKSAR Government
· Mr Larry Poon Chi-fai, Senior Manager, Planning & Development Division, Urban Renewal Authority
· Ms Betty Ho Siu-fong, Chairman of The Conservancy Association
· Professor Chan Chi-hou, Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering, CityU
· Professor Sritawat Kitipornchai, Head of the Department of Building and Construction, CityU
Winners of the competition will also meet with the media to discuss their winning designs.
