The Department of Applied Social Studies of City University of Hong Kong (CityU) and City University of Hong Kong Press co-organised a seminar on adolescent idol worship. Academics from CityU will announce the latest findings of a study on adolescent idol worship in Hong Kong and Shenzhen. The highlights include the reasons youngsters worship their idols, the relationship between idol worship and idol-related expenditure and the most popular idols in Hong Kong and Shenzhen.

A number of youth studies experts will attend the seminar to discuss the idol worship phenomena. They are Dr Yue Xiaodong, Dr Jacky Cheung Chau-kiu and Dr Dennis Wong Sing-wing, Associate Professors from the Department of Applied Social Studies of CityU and Dr Jonathan Choi Fai-ming, Clinical Psychologist of Breakthrough. Singer-songwriter Miss Jackie Chan Hiu-ki (KellyJackie) is also invited to talk about how idols and fans could build a constructive relationship.
