Two students from the
Lo Chak-wing, studying on a master’s degree programme, won the Grand Adjudicator Award at the 14th Beijing Student Film Festival for his documentary Me, mother, grandmother, father, DV, and Ms Heiward Mak Hei-yan, a graduate of the School of Creative Media, received the Gold Award in the Open Category of the 12th Hong Kong Independent Short Film & Video Awards (IFVA) for her work Lovers’ Lover.
Lo Chak-wing became interested in movie-making while he was studying electronic engineering as an undergraduate, and he continued his studies in creative media at the
Ms Mak’s work was “the liveliest story of the younger generation”, according to IFVA judges. In fact, she was recommended to be one of the script writers for the movie Men Suddenly in Black 2 after she graduated from CityU. She will be sharing her thoughts as a newcomer to the movie industry during this media session.
Previews of the two award-winning short films will be shown during the sharing session, and the two award winners and their supervisors will talk about creating their short films.
