Media session : Sharing of thoughts with Dr Apple Fok Wai-ping on award-winning software system

We would like to invite you to cover the following event:

Dr Apple Fok Wai-ping, a computer science PhD graduate from City University of Hong Kong (CityU), has won the best software award at the “Third International Competition of the Non-Commercial Software Systems, Tools and Products for Web-Based Education” in France in March.

The software “Web-based English Learning System (WELS)” is a tool which helps students and teachers in the teaching and learning of English language in primary schools. It has won a lot of support for its unique multi-dimensional learning activities, sharing platforms for teacher and students, and its carefully designed capacity for checking the progress of learning.

To date, the number of primary schools using WELS is 11, and will rise to 40 in September.

At the session, Dr Fok will discuss the software in detail and teachers will share their experiences using it.

(Computers will be provided for WELS trial run.)
