Over 1,000 secondary school students will participate in the Inter-school Straw Airplane Competition organized by City University of Hong Kong (CityU) this Sunday. They will use straws and other materials to design and construct airplanes which will be launched from a designated runway. The one that flies the furthest wins.  

 

You are welcome to attend the testing session in the afternoon. Professor Henry Chung Shu-hung, Associate Dean of the Faculty of Science and Engineering, and Dr Shek Chan-hung, Associate Professor of the Department of Physics and Materials Science, and student representatives will talk about the highlights of the competition. Winners of the junior and senior groups will meet with the media to talk about their winning designs.

 

Note: All competing teams will build their straw airplanes in the morning of 22 April. For arrangements for covering this production session, please contact the Communications Office at CityU in advance.
