CityU helps secondary schools promote “Learning to Learn”
City University of Hong Kong (CityU) is committed to promoting lifelong learning through the “Learning to Learn” out-of-discipline course for CityU students. CityU was sponsored in 2004 by the Quality Education Fund to start the “Learning to Learn: Preparing Secondary School Students for Lifelong Learning” project, which provides training for secondary school students and teachers and promotes problem-based learning.
The Education Development Office at CityU is holding the “Learning to Learn: Preparing Secondary School Students for Lifelong Learning” Conference on 17 June 2006 (Saturday) at which internationally renowned educators Professor Brenda Smith and Professor Jarkko Hautamaki, from UK and Finland respectively, will share their experience promoting lifelong learning and learning to learn concepts in western countries.
CityU’s Senior Education Development Officer Dr Anna Kwan Siu-fong and two participating secondary school representatives, Mrs Winsome Cheng, Acting Assistant Principal of Wa Ying College, and Mr Lee Wai-hung, from Fukien Secondary School (Siu Sai Wan), will share their experience in adopting problem-based learning in teaching the humanities and liberal studies in secondary schools.
