CityUHK honours retiring staff and congratulates them on new chapters in life

A warm and joyful farewell party.

City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) recently held a farewell party for this year’s retiring staff to express sincere appreciation for their dedicated service in various roles over the years. Their commitment and contributions have laid a solid foundation for the University’s long-term development.

Professor Chun-Sing Lee, Acting President; Professor Michael Yang Mengsu, Senior Vice-President (Innovation and Enterprise); Professor Li Wen Jung, Vice-President (Talent and International Strategy); Professor Chan Chi-hou, Vice-President (Community Engagement); and Dr Karis Ho Ka-yan, Director of Human Resources, joined the party to gather with and extend best wishes to more than 40 retiring colleagues in attendance.

Professor Chun-Sing Lee expressed his heartfelt thanks to the retiring colleagues for their professionalism and dedication in teaching, research and administrative support over the decades. He emphasised that CityUHK’s development into an internationally renowned institution has been made possible by the collective efforts and selfless service of its staff.

At the farewell reception, two retiring staff members shared their valued memories of working at CityUHK.

Professor Andy Chan Hau-ping, Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering, reflected on his 35-year teaching career at CityUHK. He recounted the joy of witnessing his students transition from campus life into their careers, where they have continued to grow and thrive in their respective fields. He expressed his deepest gratitude to his colleagues, whose hard work and contributions have enabled the University to move forward steadily, while nurturing successive generations of outstanding talent.

Mr Sunny Chau Yat-kwong, Associate Director of Student Development Services (Physical Education), recalled his nearly 37 wonderful years at CityUHK as a series of heartwarming and delightful memories. From organising major sports events to hosting various sports activities, the spirit of camaraderie and shared endeavour formed his most treasured experiences at the University. He expressed his gratefulness to the University for its enduring trust and support, which has enabled the sports teams to continually improve and has promoted a superior sporting environment for both students and staff.

The annual retirement farewell party, organised by the Human Resources Office, concluded on a high note. CityUHK extends its gratitude to all the retirees for their outstanding contributions and wishes them a happy, healthy and fulfilling new chapter ahead.
