CityUHK and HUN-REN Hungarian Research Network join forces to advance joint research and innovation

City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) and the HUN-REN Hungarian Research Network signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) earlier to deepen collaboration in research, innovation and enterprise.

HUN-REN is Hungary's largest network of publicly funded research institutions, spanning a wide range of fields and disciplines in 49 independent research centres and institutes. The high-level delegation was led by Professor Balázs Gulyás, President of HUN-REN, and included: Mr Roland Jakab, Chief Executive Officer, HUN-REN; Professor Zsolt Szalay, Chief Advisor for STEM Sciences, HUN-REN; Professor Péter Nagy, Chief Advisor for Life Sciences, HUN-REN; Dr Attila Erdős, Managing Director of HUNRENTECH (under HUN-REN); Ms Barbara Ning Bálint, International Scientific Secretary, HUN-REN; Ms Lisa Liaw, Board Governor of Temasek Polytechnic Singapore and Mr László Bódis, Deputy State Secretary for Innovation, Ministry of Culture and Innovation.

Professor Freddy Boey, CityUHK President and University Distinguished Professor, stated, "As one of the world's most international universities, CityUHK is dedicated to expanding its international network and strengthening cooperation with top universities and institutions around the world. This partnership with HUN-REN leverages the strengths of both parties to foster academic exchange, innovation and enterprise collaboration, nurturing outstanding talent for the region. It also marks another important milestone in CityUHK's development in the Belt and Road region."

Under the MoU, the two parties will advance joint research projects, facilitate academic exchanges, and explore mechanisms to enhance joint research activities between researchers from CityUHK and HUN-REN. The collaboration will also explore opportunities for co-organising conferences and researcher exchanges.

CityUHK representatives attending the meeting and witnessing the MoU signing included: Professor Michael Yang Mengsu, Senior Vice-President (Innovation and Enterprise); Professor Anderson Shum Ho-cheung, Vice-President (Research); and Professor Johnny Ho Chung-yin, Associate Vice-President (Enterprise).
