Professor Paws visits CityUHK for the 11th consecutive year to promote student mental health and a culture of care
Animals have always been considered good friends of humans. Since 2015, the Student Development Office of City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) has co-organised the "Professor Paws Therapy Dog Programme" with Animals Asia, allowing students to take a brief break to interact with the beloved "Professor Paws", providing a much-needed opportunity for students to slow down and relieve stress amidst their busy academic lives.
The beloved "Professor Paws" visit CityU once again.
"Professor Paws" visited CityUHK nine times this year, attracting more than a hundred of students each time and winning the hearts of the CityUHK community. Students enjoyed the close interaction with the therapy dogs by taking photos, shaking paws and greeting them, creating heartwarming and joyful scenes that filled the campus with a healing and uplifting atmosphere.

Many students shared that opportunities like this are especially meaningful during busy academic periods, allowing them to unwind and destress. The close interactions with "Professor Paws" not only lifted their spirits but also helped alleviate stress and improve concentration. The activities also strengthened bonds between humans and animals, prompting students to reflect on the importance of kindness and empathy in their daily lives.

"Professor Paws" are registered therapy dogs with extensive visiting experience, which have provided emotional support in hospitals, care homes and schools. CityUHK will continue to promote a caring campus culture and support students’ physical and mental well-being.
