City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) congratulates its Chinese Debating Team for winning the Greater Bay Area Inter-Collegiate Debate Competition 2025.

The competition took place earlier in Macau, where the CityUHK Chinese Debating Team competed against Macao Polytechnic University on the topic “Developing the low-altitude economy is the best option for Hong Kong and Macau to achieve moderate economic diversification”. The team triumphed 5-0, securing the championship title with the highest total score. The victory showcased the team’s exceptional critical thinking, oratory skills and teamwork. Team leader Ng Tin-yan, a Year 1 student in the Department of Chinese and History, was awarded the Best Debater Award. CityUHK sincerely congratulates the Chinese Debating Team on their outstanding performance and will continue to support and encourage students to fully develop their strengths.

Organised by the Debating and Speech Culture Association of Macao since 2014, the invitational brings together elite debaters from Hong Kong and Macau to discuss current affairs, youth issues and livelihood initiatives in both regions, fostering public interest in debate and society. This year’s competition featured seven top universities from Hong Kong and Macau.
