CityUHK congratulates Baldwin Chan and partner on clinching the men’s doubles title at the WTT Europe Smash

Baldwin Chan Ho-wah, a student at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK), has achieved another remarkable victory, clinching the men’s doubles title at the World Table Tennis (WTT) European Smash in Sweden alongside his partner Wong Chun-ting, representing Hong Kong, China. This victory marks the duo first Grand Slam championship, following Baldwin’s earlier successes at the 2025 FISU World University Games.

Throughout the tournament, Baldwin demonstrated exceptional skill, unwavering determination, and seamless teamwork with his partner, overcoming several strong teams to claim the championship title. In the final, Baldwin and his partner fell behind at one point, but remained composed, focused on every shot and steadily closed the gap. Their successful comeback to claim victory showcased Baldwin’s superb skills, along with his perseverance, resilience and indomitable sporting spirit.

Currently pursuing a Bachelor of Social Sciences degree at CityUHK, Baldwin was admitted to CityUHK through the Student-Athlete Learning Support and Admission Scheme. He has achieved remarkable success in international competitions in recent months, including a historic gold medal in the men’s doubles and bronze in the mixed doubles in July at the 2025 FISU World University Games. His achievements have brought immense pride to the CityUHK community. CityUHK warmly congratulates Baldwin on his outstanding triumph at the WTT European Smash and looks forward to seeing him continuing to shine on the global stage.
