CityUHK’s Baldwin Chan triumphs with double medal haul at World University Games – Hong Kong's 1st-ever table tennis Gold at these Games
In a stunning victory, Baldwin Chan Ho-wah from City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) has won the men’s doubles table tennis for Hong Kong, China at the 2025 FISU World University Games in Germany.
This historic sporting achievement marks the first-ever table tennis Gold medal for Hong Kong, China at the FISU World University Games.
Combined with the bronze medal he secured earlier in the mixed doubles event, this is Baldwin’s second medal at this Games, demonstrating his exceptional talent.
The entire University enthusiastically congratulates Baldwin for his outstanding performance and exceptional table-tennis talent.
Baldwin and his partner Yiu Kwan-to (The Chinese University of Hong Kong) defeated Japan 4-1 in the men’s doubles final to claim the championship on 23 July (German time).
Not only that, Baldwin partnered with Wong Hoi-tung (The University of Hong Kong) to secure Bronze in the mixed doubles event the day before.
An inspiration to the entire CityUHK community, Baldwin was admitted to CityUHK through the Student-Athlete Learning Support and Admission Scheme. He is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Social Sciences degree.
