The visit led by President Boey to MuroranIT last October was extremely fruitful.

In his welcome address, President Boey stated that the visit he led with other CityUHK representatives to MuroranIT last October was extremely fruitful. The visit involved a tour of it’s research facilities and discussions on various aspects of academic collaboration, laying the foundation for further cooperation, which has now been formalised.

“MuroranIT will become a strong partner for CityUHK in the fields of science and engineering,” said President Boey. “Having been ranked the ‘Most International University’ by Times Higher Education (THE) for two consecutive years in 2024 and 2025, CityUHK will continue to collaborate with prestigious institutions in Japan and neighbouring regions and beyond, to provide more international academic and research exchange opportunities for our faculty and students.”

The MoU emphasises academic, educational and student exchanges between the two institutions. It will explore opportunities for short-term faculty and student exchanges, particularly in the field of computer science, promote joint research projects, and enhance collaboration on academic publications, research resources and information sharing.

The MuroranIT delegation, which included Professor Mianxiong Dong, Vice President, Professor Kaoru Ota, Director of the Center for Computer Science, and Professor Sangyub Baek, from the Center for International Relations, explored the CityUHK campus and facilities to gain insights into the University’s international academic and research capabilities and its diverse cultural campus environment.
