Congratulations to Prof. Tianxiang He on his Appointment as a Member of the Steering Committee on the Hong Kong Intellectual Property Academy Pilot Programme

Professor Tianxiang HE, Associate Professor of the School of Law has recently been appointed as a Member of the Steering Committee on the Hong Kong Intellectual Property Academy Pilot Programme. His appointment is for a term of two years, with effect from 1 October 2026.

As announced in the 2026–27 Budget, the Intellectual Property Department will collaborate with the Vocational Training Council (VTC) to establish the Hong Kong Intellectual Property Academy. The Academy aims to provide more systematic and better-recognised on-the-job intellectual property training programmes for the workforce across the economy, with a view to enhancing Hong Kong’s IP talent pool and supporting Hong Kong’s development as a regional IP trading centre.

The Steering Committee, comprising government representatives, industry stakeholders and experts from different fields, will advise on the development and operation of the Academy’s pilot programme. Its work covers the curriculum and recognition of training programmes, programme implementation, stakeholder and industry engagement, collaboration with institutions in Hong Kong, the Chinese Mainland and overseas, and the Academy’s long-term development.
