The LLB & BBAAC double degree programme is an undergraduate degree for students interested in accountancy and legal education and practice. It provides you with the required skills to graduate with a qualifying LLB degree and an undergraduate degree in accountancy. The double degree takes 5 years in total instead of the 8 years the two separate degrees would take.

The graduates benefit from a rigorous legal education combined with solid academic training in accounting within a global business mindset. Graduates will be highly sought after for positions in the commercial and financial sectors. The programme is also suitable for students aiming for a range of other careers where combined legal and accountancy knowledge is an advantage.

Programme Information

Programme Aims	In terms of its law component, the programme aims to: a) provide a liberal education in the theory and practice of law at the level and rigour appropriate for an undergraduate degree; b) equip students with a critical understanding of law and legal institutions so as to enable them to serve the needs of Hong Kong and the international community; and c) facilitate the development of a range of intellectual skills, in particular the ability to think analytically and critically, to solve problems, and to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. In terms of its accounting component, the programme aims to provide an active learning environment with a view to: a) foster and sustain our students’ growth in professional competence, broader skills, poise and values essential for responsible citizenship and leadership in the local business community and beyond; and b) develop knowledge of accounting and inter-related business disciplines and enrich the broader skills and values essential for members and leaders of the accountancy profession in Hong Kong and the Greater China region. The programme also aims to enable students to develop interdisciplinary approaches to issues of law and accounting.
Intended Learning Outcomes	Upon successful completion of this programme, students should be able to: Know the law • analytically and critically discuss the legal system of Hong Kong, including the main substantive/ procedural laws, and the principles of international law, and evaluate the need for their evolution; • describe the law and legal system of the People’s Republic of China and its relation with Hong Kong’s constitutional set-up and commercial future; Apply the law • apply the law to propose solutions to legal problems, existing and emerging; Evaluate & contextualise the law • critically evaluate the law in action, the dynamic interplay between law and other social phenomena, real-life situations and international policies and their co-evolution; Acquire & Use legal skills • use a range of legal or intellectual skills – such as reading and interpreting cases and statutes, identifying and evaluating relevant facts, conducting independent legal research, developing and offering solutions to legal problems, using and citing relevant authorities appropriately, drafting documents, and communicating in a coherent, cogent and persuasive manner – to develop and support arguments related to social and legal issues; Act ethically & responsibly • act with a strong sense of ethics and with due regard to social and professional responsibilities; Develop the attitude • demonstrate an attitude of inquiry to the evolution of the law at national and international levels and a sense of curiosity to learning and knowledge; Opportunity to Discover • undertake a piece of work involving original discovery and/ or innovation concerning the operation of the law and procedure in Hong Kong; • demonstrate key knowledge and skills in business-related disciplines; • communicate effectively in English and Chinese; • apply creative and critical thinking in solving business-related problems; • attain personal and team goals using individual and interpersonal skills; • demonstrate awareness of ethical and global issues in business; • apply accounting principles and practices to business situations in the context of ethical and regulatory frameworks; • formulate professional solutions to contemporary accounting and business issues.
Programme Structure	To graduate, LLB & BBAAC students must complete 150 credit units comprising core law courses, law electives, accounting courses and Gateway Education courses such as English language courses and Chinese Civilisation courses. The core courses for LLB & BBAAC students include but are not restricted to Legal Research and Writing, Hong Kong Legal System, Law of Contract, Law of Tort, Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, Criminal Law, Land Law, Company Law, Public Law of the PRC, Private Law of the PRC, Introduction to Financial Accounting, Taxation and Tax Planning, Corporate Finance and Control, Corporate Accounting and Auditing. Career Prospects	Students who complete Law Major and four PCLL prerequisites electives courses (12 credits) will satisfy all the requirements stipulated by the Standing Committee on Legal Education and Training to apply for admission to Postgraduate Certificate in Laws (PCLL). We have engaged with the Professional Bodies in a process to gain the same professional accreditation as the Bachelor of Business Administration in Accountancy programme. Admission Requirements	JUPAS Applicants To be eligible for admission to the Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Business Administration in Accountancy programme (JS1062), HKDSE applicants should achieve Level 5 or above in English Language, Level 3 or above in Mathematics and satisfy the University general entrance requirements (Please visit https://www.cityu.edu.hk/admo/admissions/jupas-admission). Direct / Non-JUPAS Applicants To be eligible for admission, you must satisfy the General Entrance Requirements and meet the following programme specific entrance requirements: - an overall band score of 7 in IELTS#; or - a TOEFL# of 600 (paper-based test) OR 100 (internet-based test); or - a score of 6 in IB English (SL/HL); or - Grade B / Grade 6 in IGCSE English as a First Language or Grade A / Grade 7 in IGCSE English as a Second Language; or - Grade C or above in HKALE AS Level Use of English; or - other equivalent qualifications #Obtained within two years before admission. Applicants may apply for admission to the programme directly. Advanced standing entry will not be considered. FAQ

How long do I need to study?

LLB & BBAAC programme is a double degree programme. The normal Duration period is 5 years.

Do I need to pay?

LLB & BBAAC students are required to complete 150 credit units. For students pursuing a double degree, any extra credits exceeding 144 completed in the four years duration and credits taken in the 5th year of study and beyond will be charged on a self-financing basis. For the details of the rate, please check the Finance Office website.

Can I transfer into LLB & BBAAC double degree programme?

We will consider the application from the current students who meet the following requirements:

(a)CGPA of 3.30;

(b)Good English Proficiency; AND

(i)an overall IELTS band score of 7; OR
(ii)a TOEFL score of 600 (paper-based test) OR 100 (internet-based test); OR
(iii) a score of 6 in IB English (SL/HL); OR
(iv) Grade B/Grade 6 (for First Language) or Grade A/Grade 7(for Second Language) in IGCSE English; OR
(v) Level 5 in HKDSE English Language; OR
(vi) Grade C in HKALE AS-Level Use of English; OR
(vii) a score of 135 in English Language (Mainland Gaokao); OR
(viii) Grade A- in GE1401 University English; OR
(ix) other equivalent qualifications
