Question 1
I am a current student. Do I need to make adjustments to my pre-registration schedule?
Answer
Your pre-registration schedule may not be appropriate for your circumstances. Use it as a draft version to further compile your class schedule based on your curriculum requirements and study plan.
When your course grades for the previous semester are available, you might need to make further adjustments to your class schedule.
Question 2
I have been granted credit transfer/exemption for a course but it still appears in my schedule. What should I do?
Answer
If the course is web-enabled, simply drop the course through the web. If the course is not web-enabled, please use the electronic form under the "Course Registration" menu in AIMS, click "Application for Add/Drop of Non-Web-enabled Course & Study Load Adjustment" and provide reason(s) and supporting document(s) that you have obtained approval for credit transfer/exemption, for approval by the home academic unit.
Question 3
What should I do if I wish to reduce my study load for the semester?
Answer
Students who wish to take a reduced study load in a semester (full-time students taking less than 12 credits) due to special circumstances may make an application via an electronic form available in AIMS. Please login to AIMS, go to the tab "Course Registration" and click "Application for Add/Drop of Non-Web-enabled Course & Study Load Adjustment". Once you submit an application, it will be forwarded to your home academic unit for consideration.
Question 4
What should I do if I wish to exceed my maximum study load for the semester?
Answer
Students who wish to increase the maximum study load due to special circumstances may make an application via an electronic form available in AIMS. Please login to AIMS, go to the tab "Course Registration" and click "Application for Add/Drop of Non-Web-enabled Course & Study Load Adjustment". Once you submit an application, it will be forwarded to your home academic unit for consideration.
Question 5
I have already registered in the lecture and tutorial sections of a course but want to change the tutorial section to another available section. What should I do?
Answer
First of all, you should check if there is any time conflict resulting from the change. If there is none, you can drop the original tutorial section and add the new tutorial section at the same time when submitting the add/drop request via AIMS. However, if the capacity of the new tutorial section is almost full, you are advised not to attempt to swap because other students may be competing for the few remaining seats at the same time and there is a possibility that you will lose your seat in the original tutorial section while not being able to enrol in the new one.
Question 6
I intend to take an optional language course offered by the School of Continuing and Professional Education (SCOPE) and some physical education courses. Will these courses be counted towards my study load and the grade recorded in my transcript?
Answer
These courses are non-credit-bearing and will not contribute to your semester's academic load. SCOPE optional courses taken in Semester A 2011/12 and thereafter, and PE courses taken in Semester A 2012/13 and thereafter, will not be recorded in students' transcripts.
Question 7
Why does the system show the message "Too many requests ahead of you. Please try again later"? Is it a server problem?
Answer
There is a large number of access to the registration page during the course registration period, especially at the peak hours when each time slot commences. As a measure of network traffic control, it is a standard practice to restrict the number of access to the server to maintain the operation of the server. This would result in some users failing to login to AIMS temporarily. Please be patient and try again later.
