CityU offers diversified professional education for its students in which they may participate in learning activities on campus, elsewhere in Hong Kong or out of Hong Kong. Hence, ensuring a safe learning environment is of prime concern to the University, and it is our responsibility to protect the students in the event of critical incidents.
With such a large university population, we realise that emergencies occur, and it is imperative that prompt and appropriate action is taken to handle these incidents effectively.
The Critical Incident Management Team (CIMAT) for Students [CIMAT (Students)] established for this purpose in July 2007 advises on the formulation of policies for the management of critical incidents involving students, oversees the implementation of such policies, and supervises the University's critical response.
CIMAT (Students) is chaired by the Vice-President (Student Affairs) and comprises members from different offices, including the Academic Regulations and Records Office, Facilities Management Office, Communications and Public Relations Office, Global Engagement Office, Student Development Services, Student Residence Office, and any other departments/offices as and when necessary.
The team is also responsible for raising awareness on campus about potential crisis situations and providing training on established protocols and guidelines to ensure a smooth, efficient and speedy response to any emergency arising.For reporting critical incidents, please call the University emergency number: 3442 8888.
