The aim of the Student Athletes Admission Scheme is to provide opportunities for outstanding student athletes to study at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK). Since the introduction of the scheme
in 1997, more than 1,600 students with high sports performance standards have been admitted to the university's degree programmes.
We are proud to extend the Scheme to non-local student athletes. Through the provisions of scholarships, we hope to attract high performing international athletes to CityUHK and further enhance the
performance of our sports teams.
Undergraduates
For candidates applying for an undergraduate programme, the Scheme covers full tuition fees for a maximum of four years and the residence scholarship renewal each year according to satisfactory sports performance and Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.5 or above.
Master's Programme
For candidates applying for a master's programme, the Scheme will provide the scholarship money to cover full/partial tuition fee for one year ONLY . If there are any scholarship money left after settling the tuition fees, the money will be deposited to the candidate's bank account as living allowances. The Residence scholarship is not applicable to master's programme candidates. Candidates can apply for student residences (not guaranteed) according to their preference or secure off-campus residences.

Amount of the Scholarship
Non-local student athletes admitted under the Student Athletes Admission Scheme may receive up to HK$250,000 (approximately US$32,050) per annum. This scholarship is equivalent to the Top Scholarship and recipients of this scholarship would not be eligible for the Diversity Grant. The scholarship covers full tuition for the normal duration of study in a specific UGC undergraduate programme, or partial/full tuition for a specific one-year master’s programme, depending on the tuition fees.
Undergraduate candidates will also receive the Residence Scholarship, which covers residence hall fees. Subject to student residence availability, master's programme candidates are required to pay
for their own residence fees upon successful application to the student residence.

Selection and Renewal Requirements
A selection panel will assess and select appropriate scholarship recipients. Applicants with outstanding achievements in the 18 sports listed below are welcome to apply for the Scholarship.

Shortlisted candidates will be recommended to the related Colleges / Schools for admission consideration. Successful candidates will receive the Outstanding Athletes Entrance Scholarship for
non-local students.
For undergraduate candidates, the Scholarship is automatically renewed throughout the normal duration of study for recipients who have achieved satisfactory sports performance and a Cumulative
Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 2.5 or above by the end of each academic year.
How to Apply
STEP 1
Make an online admission application as below:

Any applications received after the deadline will not be considered.

STEP 2
- A. Fill in the OAES Nomination Form at: OAES_NOM v1.0.pdf
- B. Solicit Recommendation Letter(s) from your sports coach/club to prove your current sports performance (within 2 years).
- C. Submit your Academic Transcripts including TOEFL and/or IELTS Certificates.

D. Submit a Curriculum Vitae/Personal Resume stating your sports achievements.
- Include Web Link(s) (on YouTube or any cloud storage sharing website) of your competition video(s) demonstrating your sports performance during official match(es) in - full length/a 15-20 minutes of your playtime/a few sets played; with the indication of your jersey colour & number for identification.

E. Solicit a Letter from a Physician to prove your physical & medical condition to be fit to participate in sports competitions at your current level of play.
- The letter should be issued within 3 months of application.
- F. Submit the University Confirmation Email for the application of the academic programmes.

STEP 3
- Upon receiving a confirmed offer from the Admissions Office, please follow the instructions to pay the confirmation fee and register for student residence by the specified deadline.
- Candidates who do not pay the confirmation fee by the deadline will be considered to have withdrawn their application.
- Candidates who do not register for student residence by the deadline will be regarded as indicating that they do not require accommodation in the student residence or will arrange their own housing in Hong Kong for the duration of their studies.
- Candidates are also reminded to apply for student visas if applicable.
