Once again President Way Kuo of CityU has led a team of around 240 athletes in the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon, which was held on 24 October. President Kuo has run the Hong Kong marathon with a CityU delegation for 12 consecutive years, except in 2020 because of Covid-19, exemplifying CityU’s spirit of excellence in both academics and sports.
CityU is holding an exhibition titled “Post-War Hong Kong and the Story of Tat Chee Avenue” from 18 to 31 October.

Professor Kuo Tei-wei, Lee Shau Kee Chair Professor of Information Engineering and Dean of the College of Engineering, has been awarded the Humboldt Research Award from the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation in recognition of his achievements as a pioneer in system and software designs of non-volatile memory.
Dr Nicholas Thomas, Associate Professor in the Department of Asian and International Studies, has been elected Fellow of the Royal Society of Public Health.
Four students from CityU won the Innovation and Technology Scholarship 2021, receiving HK$150,000 each for activities including overseas exchange, local internship and mentorship programmes.

This news, announced on 15 June, places CityU at 51st in the world, the highest position in our history, and ranks us top among local universities for the 5th consecutive year.
